COVID-19 RNA Test
Testing has become a fundamental part of slowing the spread of the coronavirus to control transmission. Citran is now offering the COVID-19 RNA test to asymptomatic employees to help detect whether individuals have the virus.
Employers can confidently hire new employees or return employees to work who were possibly exposed to the coronavirus or have recently returned from a high-risk area.
What is the COVID-19 RNA Test?
- Nasal (nasopharyngeal) swab to determine if SARS-CoV-2 is present
- Sent to lab to analyze for acute infection, results take up to 72-96 hours due to high demand for testing
What Do the Results Mean?
- Positive results indicate current infection with COVID-19
- Reported to the local health department
- Negative results indicate no detection of COVID-19 present
- Even with a negative test, it is recomended to wear a face mask while in public spaces, wash hands regularly and follow social distancing recommendations
Who Should Receive Test?
Symptomatic Employees, Should contact primary care physician for further instructions on testing
Asymptomatic employees:
- Recent known or suspected exposure to SARS-CoV-2 to control transmission
- Without known or suspected exposure to SARS-CoV-2 for early identification in special settings
COVID-19 Rapid Antibody Test
Offering antibody testing is a safety measure to help identify staff who have already recovered from COVID-19 and are less likely to contract the virus and continue to spread it throughout the workplace.
What is COVID-19 Rapid Antibody Test?
- Instant finger-stick detects the presence of antibodies within 10 minutes
- Measures amount of antibodies/protein in the blood when the body is responding to an infection (i.e. COVID-19)
What Do the Results Mean?
- Positive results indicate current/or past exposure to COVID-19
- Negative results indicate
- a. Employee has not been exposed to the virus COVID-19
- b. Employee might have been exposed but has not yet produced antibodies against COVID-19
Who Should Receive Test?
Symptomatic employees, should contact primary care physician for further instructions on testing
Asymptomatic employees:
- To determine if a patient might be a carrier of COVID-19
- To determine if a patient has been infected with COVID-19 in the past and has developed immunity
